States are called for to provide dental benefits to children covered by Medicaid and the Children's Health and wellness Insurance policy Program (CHIP), yet mentions choose whether to offer dental benefits for adults.


Medicaid covers dental services for all child enrollees as part of a detailed collection of benefits, referred to as the Early and Periodic Testing, Analysis as well as Treatment (EPSDT) benefit. Though oral screening may belong to a physical test, it does not replacement for an oral examination performed by a dentist.
